In 1989, Lovell White Durrant, Solicitors in Hong Kong, donated a sum per annum to set up scholarships at the University. In 2000, the scholarship was renamed as "Lovells Scholarship in Law" to reflect the change of the name of the firm to "Lovells". In 2010, the scholarship was further re-named as "Hogan Lovells Scholarship in Law for LLB Students to reflect its merger with Hogan Hartson. In 2014, the donor agreed to increase the scholarship amount to $25,000.
The scholarship shall be awaded to second year students of the 4-year LL.B programme and third year students on the 5-year double degree programme.
The scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit as shown in the examinations held for the degree of LLB in all years/semesters completed by the student prior to the Selection Committee's deliberations.
Participation in extra-curricular activities, leadership qualities and personality will also be taken into account.
