In 1980, Dr. Stephen S.F. Hui donated a sum to establish the Hui Yin Hing Scholarship and Fellowship Trust Fund for the promotion of studies in Geology and Earth Sciences by undergraduates and graduates of The University of Hong Kong. This Fund was increased by Dr. Hui in 1985.
The Fellowship shall be awarded to a final-year undergraduate student of one of the following degrees/majors:
a) Any Bachelor’s degree, majoring in Geography; or
b) BEng degree in Civil Engineering; or
c) BSc degree, majoring in Geology or Geology (Intensive) or Earth System Sciences.
The Fellowship holders shall proceed to full-time postgraduate studies in Geology and/or Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Hong Kong, or any other institution as approved by the Selection Committee.
The Fellowship shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit as shown in the undergraduate studies, and shall be tenable for the duration of the chosen full-time postgraduate programme for the normative study period, up to a maximum of five years, subject to satisfactory progress being maintained and continued full-time enrolment in the chosen postgraduate programme.
