On the Donor

The John Swire and Sons (HK) Ltd. is a long-time supporter of the University.  Among its many generous donations, it provides full scholarships for outstanding undergraduate students.

Purpose and Scope

The Scholarship shall be awarded to local full-time first degree Year 1 undergraduates on the basis of academic merits as shown in university studies and the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination; leadership qualities and financial need will also be taken into account. If an awardee fails to maintain satisfactory academic performance, his/her scholarship shall be terminated.

The value of each award is equivalent to the annual tuition fee of UGC-funded programmes. Tenure for the Scholarship shall be renewable subject to satisfactory academic performance of the awardees (cumulative GPA of not lower than 3.30), recommendation by the University and approval by the donor.

(Note: The Swire University Scholarship cannot be concurrently held with any other scholarships administered by the University.)

Note:

• Applications are usually accepted in Semester One of each academic year.
• Applications for the 2023-24 Scholarship will open in late August 2023 and close in late September 2023. For details, please refer to 2023-24 General Round Scholarship Applications. Results are expected to be available around May/June 2024.
