The late Mrs. Lee Shum Shuk Yuen (BA 1957) donated a sum to the Journalism and Media Studies Centre (JMSC) of The University of Hong Kong to establish the “Lee Kam Woon and Shum Shuk Yuen Education Fund” (利錦桓岑淑婉教育基金) in 2007 to support the further education of future local journalists and media professionals. In 2024 and 2026, donations were received respectively from the estate of Mrs. Lee Shum Shuk Yuen for the “Lee Kam Woon & Shum Shuk Yuen Education Fund/Scholarship”. The investment income generated each year from the Fund shall support the Scholarship.
The Scholarship shall be primarily awarded to Hong Kong residents who are pursuing study programmes offered by the School of Future Media at The University of Hong Kong, including undergraduate and/or postgraduate student(s).
Within the Selection Committee’s discretion, the Scholarship shall also be awarded to non-Hong
Kong residents who are pursuing study programmes offered by the School of Future Media.
The Scholarship shall be awardedon the basis of academic or professional merit; financial need will be considered when candidates are of equal merit. The total number of scholarship and the value of each award each year shall be determined by the Selection Committee based on the fund available. In any event, the value of each scholarship shall range between HK$50,000 and HK$200,000.
