On the Donor

The Scholarship was established by the belated Mr George Ho (何佐芝), who was a pioneer and guru in broadcasting and telecommunications.  Mr Ho founded Commercial Radio Hong Kong in 1959.  He was also one of the founders of Commercial Television, which was established in 1975, and SmarTone Telecommunications Holdings in 1992.

Mr George Ho founded the Jessie & George Ho Charitable Foundation and set up the M W Lo Memorial Scholarship in 2004 and the M W Lo Memorial Scholarships for Outstanding Mainland Students in 2011 at HKU in memory of his close friend, Mr Lo Man-Wai (羅文惠).

Mr Lo was the founder of Lo & Lo Solicitors and also co-founded Commercial Radio with Mr Ho. 

Purpose and Scope

The Scholarship aim at supporting full-time students studying for Bachelor of Law degree (LLB) or Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL). 

The Scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit as shown (a) in the case of awards for 1st year LLB students, the results of public examination for admission to the Univesrity; (b) in the case of awards for LLB students in other years of studies, results of the LLB Examinations; and (c) in the case of awards for PCLL students, their performance in their studies for the first degree.
