羅文惠紀念基金優秀內地生獎學金

On the Donor

The Scholarships were established by the belated Mr George Ho (何佐芝), who was a pioneer and guru in broadcasting and telecommunications.  Mr Ho founded Commercial Radio Hong Kong in 1959.  He was also one of the founders of Commercial Television, which was established in 1975, and SmarTone Telecommunications Holdings in 1992.

Mr George Ho founded the Jessie & George Ho Charitable Foundation and set up the M W Lo Memorial Scholarships in 2004 at HKU in memory of his close friend, Mr Lo Man-Wai (羅文惠). Mr Lo was the founder of Lo & Lo Solicitors and also co-founded Commercial Radio with Mr Ho. The Scholarships aim at supporting students studying for a Bachelor of Law degree or a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws.

In 2009, the Jessie & George Ho Charitable Foundation generously donated a sum to the University at the occasion of Commercial Raido's 50th anniversary. The fund is used to award the M W Lo Memorial Scholarships for Outstanding Mainland Students to encourage deserving students from the poorer regions or provinces of Mainland China to pursue their studies at The University of Hong Kong. Only the annual investment income generated from the endowment will be used to award the scholarships.
