In December 2006, in remembrance of their maternal grandmother, Madam Lau Sau Chee (劉秀枝女士), who had supported their studies while they were young and who had passed away in July 2003, Mr Andrew S Y Li, District Judge and former Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, together with some of his siblings, pledged a sum to the University to establish the “Madam Lau Sau Chee Memorial Scholarship” (劉秀枝女士紀念獎學金) in support of undergraduate law students to go on exchange studies. In 2021, the Scholarship was expanded to Year 5 double degree law students and P.C.LL. students.
A maximum of four scholarships shall be awarded each year on the basis of academic merit, financial need and performance in the selection interview, if any, as follows:
a) Up to two scholarships, at the value of HK$25,000 each, shall be awarded each year to support undergraduate law students (including LL.B. and double degree law students) who will go on exchange for one academic year;
b) One scholarship, at the value of HK$15,000 each, shall be awarded each year to a year 5 double degree law student; and
c) One scholarship, at the value of HK$15,000 each, shall be awarded each year to a year 2 part-time P.C.LL. student.
