In 2004, Mr Alan Leong SC's Chambers Scholarships in Public Law was established in recognition to top quality law students who are interested in the area of public law. With effect from 2004-05, two scholarships which cover the airfares, the accommodation, the registration and school fees of the overseas summer courses on human rights and the living costs will be awarded to any year of students studying LLB or BSocSc(Govt&Laws), BBA(Law), BEng(Civ&Law) degree courses. The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the merit demonstrated in the essay and English proficiency.
Each applicant is required to submit an essay, written in English, of no fewer than 3,000 words and not more than 5,000 words on a topic of public law set by the donor every year. Assessment will be based on merit as demonstrated in the essays. Academic records of the applicants and competence in the English language may also be taken into account.
