Norman Chui Scholarship

On the Donor

In 2004, Mr Norman Chui donated a sum to establish an endowment fund for the award to 2 scholarships for the Department of Chemistry.

Purpose and Scope

The scholarships shall be awarded to:

(a) a final year undergraduate studying a degree program under the Faculty with not less than 50% of the curriculum courses taken from courses offered by the Department. The award shall be made on the basis of academic merit (with GPA of 3.6 or above or above, or its equivalent in case of letter grades as shown in the overall results of the examinations or assessments of the courses taken in the third year of the said program, not less than 50% of which should consist of courses offered by the Department;

(b) a graduate of the Faculty with not less than 70% of the curriculum courses in the final year taken from courses offered by the Department. The award shall be made on the basis of the academic merit (with a GPA of 3.6 or above, or its equivalent in case of letter grades as shown in the overall results of the examinations or assessments of the courses taken in the final year of the BSc degree.

The hope is expressed that the winner may, if at all possible, make use of the scholarship to participate in a science education or visiting program of study organized by Beijing University, Tsing Hua University or other leading univeristies in the People's Republic of China or worldwide. The participation of such program is not a requirement for the award.
