BOCHK Charitable Foundation (中銀香港慈善基金), formerly known as the Bank of China Group Charitable Foundation, was established in July 1994 and was subsequently renamed in 2002. Since its establishment, the Foundation is dedicated to contributing to the well-being of the community it serves by participating in and supporting a wide range of major local charitable activities, covering culture and education, sports and recreation, medical and health, environmental protection, relief as well as assistance to the needy.
In 2008, the BOCHK Charitable Foundation kindly offered a donation to The University of Hong Kong to set up a scholarship, the Bank of China (Hong Kong) - HKU Students Scholarship, for undergraduates in the Faculty of Business and Economics with effect from the academic year 2007-08. In 2016, the Scholarship was renamed and it shall be awarded from the academic year 2015-16. In 2017, the donor agreed to continue the sponsorship for the Scholarship.
Five scholarships shall be awarded each year to local undergraduates who are studying in the second year or above in the Faculty of Business and Economics with a cumulative GPA (CGPA) of at least 3.50.
