Resona Bank Scholarship for Japanese Studies

On the Donor

In 1989, The Daiwa Overseas Finance Limited kindly donated a sum to establish a Scholarship to support research postgraduate studies in Japanese Studies from the academic year 1990-91. The revisions in 2007 and 2012 expanded the scope to include undergraduate students in Japanese Studies. In 2016, the number of scholarships was increased to two per year.

 

Purpose and Scope

The Scholarship be open to full-time undergraduate students as well as full-time postgraduate students who are reading the degree of M.Phil. or Ph.D. in the field of Japanese Studies.

Preference will be given to those candidates who are interested in the economy of Japan. They are expected to render their contributions to the local society or economy during and after their studies.

Selection criteria:

  • Academic merit;
  • Candidate's research proposal; and
  • Financial need
Value of Award HK$60,000 each. Travel grants may be made available for carrying out research in Japan subject to the availability of funds.
