SCMP Wah Kiu Yat Po Journalism Scholarship
On the Donor
The SCMP Wah Kiu Yat Po Journalism Scholarship Fund was set up by the Journalism and Media Studies Centre (JMSC)of The University of Hong Kong (JMSC) with cash donation from the Wah Kiu Yat Po Reader's Loan Fund for Post-Secondary School Students, the latter being a fund operated by the South China Morning Post.
Purpose and Scope
The SCMP Wah Kiu Yat Po Journalism Scholarship Fund shall provide the following scholarships:
- Scholarships shall be awarded to students who are pursuing study programmes offered by the School of Future Media (SFM) at The University of Hong Kong.
- Scholarships shall be awarded to SFM students who have been selected to partake in overseas training programmes (including the SFM exchange programme) or conferences that broaden their perspectives on the ever-changing media landscapes, or unpaid internship in Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland or overseas.
The Scholarships shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit; financial need will be considered when candidates are of equal merit. The total number of awards and the value of each award shall be determined by the Selection Committee based on the fund available. In any event, the value of each scholarship shall range between HK$10,000 and HK$200,000.
