Sir Man-kam Lo (羅文錦) was a prominent Eurasian lawyer in Hong Kong. His father worked as a comprador for Jardine, Matheson & Co. Sir Man-kam Lo dedicated his career to public service. His life’s work, as an unofficial member of both the Executive Council and the Legislative Council, left an outstanding legacy. He was also the son-in-law of Robert Hotung, the patriarch of the prominent Hotung family.
In 2001, Jardine Matheson & Company Limited made a donation in memory of Sir Man-kam to establish scholarships in his name. The scholarships are now awarded to selected students in the second year of their undergraduate degree studies at the Faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Law, and Business & Economics.
The scholarships shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit as shown in the latest examination and leadership as shown in interest in games, community services and other extra-curricular activities (but not necessarily all three), and the applicant's interview.
