Statistics and Actuarial Science (SAAS) Scholarships

In 2004, the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science established a Scholarship to support outstanding undergraduate students.

Purpose and Scope

The Scholarships shall be awarded annually to undergraduate students according to the criteria and allocation below:

  • Twenty scholarships in the range of HK$50,000 to HK$100,000 each shall be awarded to local and non-local students freshly admitted to the BSc degree in Actuarial Science programme. The exact amount of each scholarship shall be determined by a Selection Committee based on the candidates’ HKDSE or equivalent public examination results.
  • Six scholarships of HK$10,000 each shall be awarded to second-year students pursuing a BSc degree in Actuarial Science, based on their Year I university examination results.
  • Six scholarships of HK$10,000 each shall be awarded to second-year students pursuing a BStat degree, based on their Year I university examination results.
  • Eight scholarships of HK$10,000 each shall be awarded to third-year students pursuing a BSc degree with a major in Decision Analytics, Risk Management, or Statistics, based on their Year I & II university examination results.
  • Six scholarships of HK$10,000 each shall be awarded to third-year students pursuing a BSc degree in Actuarial Science, based on their Year II university examination results.
  • Six scholarships of HK$10,000 each shall be awarded to third-year students pursuing a BStat degree, based on their Year II university examination results.
  • Six scholarships of HK$10,000 each shall be awarded to fourth-year or above students pursuing a BSc degree with a major in Decision Analytics, Risk Management, or Statistics, based on their Year III university examination results.
  • Six scholarships of HK$10,000 each shall be awarded to fourth-year or above students pursuing a BSc degree in Actuarial Science, based on their Year III university examination results.
  • Six scholarships of HK$10,000 each shall be awarded to fourth-year students pursuing a BStat degree, based on their Year III university examination results.

Examination results in the year of a student’s exchange or leave of absence shall not be taken into account in the selection.
