Swire Scholarship
太古獎學金

On the Donor

Through the generous donation from the Swire Group, Swire Scholarships were established to provide a learning opportunity for young members of the University’s academic community to reside in Robert Black College, and interact with international scholars.

Robert Black College was established in 1967 and has since been an academic guest house for the University.  Residents of the College are mainly visiting scholars from outside Hong Kong who contribute to the academic excellence of the University.

Purpose and Scope

The Swire Scholars are provided with free accommodations and breakfasts (for single occupancy). The Scholarship is renewable, subject to annual review and approval, for the normative period of full-time PhD study at the University.

The Swire Scholars are expected to actively interact with the visiting academics residing at Robert Black College, so as to enrich their learning experiences, and to keep the visiting academics in good company.

With the redevelopment of the Robert Black College in 2022, the Scholarship awardees will reside at St. John’s College (SJC) instead. The awardees will continue to serve as a bridge for cultural exchange.
