On the Donor

In 2012, Mr Chu Nap Kee and Ms Truong My Lan of Van ThinhPhat Group Holdings donated a sum for the establishment of the“Vietnam Van Thinh Phat Scholarships” to attract outstanding talents from Vietnam to pursue undergraduate studies at HKU. The awarding of the Scholarship started in the academic year 2013-14. In 2018, the donor party made a further donation.

Purpose and Scope

The Scholarship shall be awarded annually as follows:

1. as entrance scholarships to outstanding students from Vietnam to pursue the following undergraduate programmes:

i) Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting & Finance);
ii) Any curriculum offered by the Faculty of Engineering;
iii) Any curriculum offered by the Faculty of Architecture; or
iv) Any other curriculum subject to the consent of the donor or his/her
representative.

iv) Any other curriculum subject to the consent of the donor or his/herrepresentative.

2. shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit and interview performance.

3. shall be tenable throughout the normative study period subject to satisfactory academic performance being maintained, i.e. GPA of 3.0 or above. 

For students admitted before 2017, the value of Scholarship shall be HK$200,000 per year. For students admitted in 2018 and thereafter, the value of Scholarship shall be calculated as the Composition Fee per year plus HK$74,000 per year for accommodation and living expenses.
