Louis Cha Postgraduate Research Fellowship

In 1986, Dr. Louis Cha contributed a generous sum of money to establish a Louis Cha Fund for Chinese Studies and East/West Studies in the Faculty of Arts for supporting and promoting teaching and research in Chinese Studies and East/West Studies.

In 2011, the Louis Cha Fund Committee of Management established the Louis Cha Postgraduate Research Fellowship to support research postgraduate students in undertaking research activities overseas. The fellowship shall provide financial support for conducting research activities overseas, including undertaking archival study and fieldwork. The fellowship recipient shall be required to acknowledge the support of the “Louis Cha Fund for Chinese Studies and East/West Studies in the Faculty of Arts” in his/her thesis and any other related publications.

Purpose and Scope

Two fellowships of up to HK$20,000 each shall be awarded annually.

The fellowship shall be awarded to research postgraduate students in the Faculty of Arts whose field of study is in Chinese Studies or East/West Studies on a competitive basis, taking into account an applicant’s academic excellence, supervisor’s assessment of the applicant’s academic progress during the preceding year(s) and the value of the proposed activity to the applicant’s study.
