In September 2012, the Faculty of Arts established the Arts Faculty Grants for Joint PhD Programmes to support research postgraduate students who are enrolled in a Joint PhD Programme. The grants support students in undertaking studies and research activities in the partner institution overseas. The grants shall be awarded with effect from the academic year 2012-13 with the value of HK$20,000 each.
The grants shall be awarded to research postgraduate students in teh Faculty of Arts who are enrolled in a Joint PhD Programme with The University of Hong Kong as the home institution.
The grants shall be awarded on the basis of (i) the student's academic standing, and (ii) the value of the proposed trip to the student's study. The number of awards in any year shall be determined by the Higher Arts Degrees Committee.
The purpose of the grants is to subsidise students' travel expenses and living expenses overseas, including but not limited to return airfare, lodging and local public transport, etc. Eligible students can only receive the grants once during their normative study period.
