HKU Social Work Alumni Scholarships for Undergraduate Students

In 2012, the Department of Social Work and Social Administration has pooled funding from earlier donations and the other sources for the establishment of this HKU Social Work Alumni Scholarships for Undergraduate Students to academically outstanding performance of the undergraduate students with major studies in (a) Social Work and Social Administration, or (b) Counselling, offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences.
The donation was submitted matching under the 6th Government Matching Scheme and the matching grant was in the ration of 1:1. The total fund balance was at HK$1,000,000.
In 2012, the Department of Social Work and Social Administration established this HKU Social Work Alumni Scholarships for Undergraduate Students to academically outstanding undergraduate students with major studies in (a) Social Work and Social Administration, or (b) Counselling, offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences.
Purpose and Scope
The scholarship shall be awarded to UG students who are entering their third year of studies under their major studies in (a) Social Work and Social Administration, or (b) Counselling, offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, with proven academic ability such as:
1. a minimum CGPA of 3.6 at the end of second year of studies; &
2. outstanding performance in advanced courses under BSocSc Social Work and Social Administration or Counselling programme.
The scholarship shall be awarded to undergraduate students, who are entering their third year of studies under their major studies in (a) Social Work and Social Administration, or (b) Counselling, offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, with proven academic ability such as:
- a minimum CGPA of 3.6 at the end of second year of studies; and
- outstanding performance in advanced courses under BSocSc Social Work and Social Administration or Counselling programme.
Other criteria such as personalities, leadership qualities, motivation, commitment to social services and financial need shall be taken into account.
