In November 2012, Professor Francis Lau Shiu Kwan generously donated to the "Turn $1 to Five" for Centenary Scholarship Fund to support the learning initiatives of Medical students learning activities in either the medical or non-medical fields during their couse of study, the Scholarships aim to enhance their all-rounded development and exposure before embarking on their journey of the professional medical career.
The Scholarship shall be awarded, on the basis of academic merit and financial need, to MBBS students to enable them:
(i) to participate in service attachment or learning or research activities during the Enrichment Year; or
(ii) to undertake Final Year Electives outside Hong Kong, as approved by the relevant Sub-Committees.
The value of the Enrichment Scholarships shall be as follows:
(i) For Enrichment Year Activities: The value of each scholarship shall range from HK$20,000 to HK$50,000
(ii) For Final Year Electives: The value of the Scholarship shall be in three tiers of HK$10,000, HK$15,000 and HK$20,000 each.
The exact value and number of scholarship shall be determined by the LKS Faculty of Medicine.
