In October 2012, Mr Chau Kwok Ming (BBA 1991) generously donated a sum in response to the “Turn $1 to Five" for the Centenary Scholarship Fund. The donation was used to set up scholarships in the name of Ms Noel Tang Man Wai (BSocSc 1991), Mr Chau’s wife. Their romantic story begins with Kwok-ming encountering Noel, both St Johnians, at the orientation camp of the Management Studies Society in 1988. Since then the pair has grown together through the seasons of life and in 2012 they celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary. In celebration of this milestone in their life, Mr Chau decided to set up a scholarship in the name of his wife.
“We believe and hope this donation will not only give some meaning to ourselves but also want to make some influence to current HKU students,” said Mr Chau. They also wanted to share a quote from the Bible: "Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer” (Romans 12 :12)
