On the Donor

In 2013-14, funds are contributed to establish a scholarship in memory of Fr Alvaro Ribeiro (BA 1969) by his contemporaries, family and friends, many of whom share his roots in Ricci Hall and HKU, and others hailing from renowned educational institutions around the world, where Fr Ribeiro did research work, studied or served.

Fr Ribeiro was awarded the King Edward Scholarship and completed his BA studies with first class honours at HKU. During his Assistant Wardenship (1989-90) and Wardenship (1990-92) of Ricci Hall, Fr Ribeiro also taught at the Arts Faculty and Department of English.

Purpose and Scope

The Scholarship shall be made annually the selected final-year students majoring in English Studies on the basis of academic merits, intellectual achievement and contribution to the community. The value of each award is HK$10,000.
