On the Donor

In 2004, Mr. Ma Kong Fai and Ms. Wong Pui Shan donated a sum to establish the scholarships to students of Master of Buddhist Studies (MBS) degree programme. In 2014-15, the scholarship was extended to students of the Research Postgraduate (RPG) degree programme. In 2019-20, the scholarship has further extended to students of the Master of Buddhist Counselling (MBC) degree programme.

Purpose and Scope

MBS, MBC and RPG candidates who pursue research in the field of Buddhist Studies are eligible for consideration of the award. 

Scholarship for candidates of the MBS or the MBC programme shall be awarded with priority given to those pursuing the 1-year full-time degree programme. Under special circumstances, the Scholarship may be awarded to students pursuing the 2-years part-time degree programme. 

The Scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of (i) academic merit and (ii) the candidates’ financial need. An interview may be conducted if necessary, and the interview performance shall be taken into consideration.
