Shanghai Commercial Bank Scholarship

With the support of the Shanghai Commercial Bank Limited, a scholarship has
been established and awarded to undergraduate students at the Faculty of Business and
Economics (FBE) who have achieved academic excellence since the academic year 2014-
15.
With the support of the Shanghai Commercial Bank Limited, a Scholarship has been established and awarded to undergraduate students at the Faculty of Business and Economics who have achieved academic excellence since the academic year 2014-15. In 2026, the scope of the Scholarship was extended to include programmes under the School of Computing and Data Science at the University.
Purpose and Scope
Up to five scholarships shall be awarded annually on the basis of the following criteria:
(a) full-time local Year 3 or Year 4 FBE undergraduate students;
(b) academic merit (a minimum CGPA of 3.30); and
(c) preference will be given to students who have
(i) financial need;
(ii) demonstrated contribution in social services or community engagement activity; and
(iii) demonstrated leadership and other outstanding personal qualities.
Twenty scholarships shall be awarded annually to full-time local and non-local undergraduate students under the following categories:
- 14 scholarships for penultimate and final year students of the Faculty of Business and Economics;
- 6 scholarships for penultimate and final year students reading the degree of the Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Financial Technology, the Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science, the Bachelor of Engineering in Data Science and Engineering, and the Bachelor of Engineering in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
The Scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of the following criteria:
- no more than 50% of awards shall be allocated to non-local students, based on the numbers specified above;
- academic merit (a minimum CGPA of 3.30);
- active involvement in social services or community engagement; and
- preference shall be given to students who have
- demonstrated leadership;
- receipt of other prizes or scholarships in the past 3 years;
- demonstrated aspiration to pursue his/her career in the banking/financial industry; and
- not received the Shanghai Commercial Bank Scholarship before.
