Bernard Downey Scholarship

On the Donor

In 1980, to commemorate his period at the University from 1969-80 his Honour Judge Downey, District Judge of Hong Kong, donated to the University funds for the award of two prizes. With an additional funding from a group of alumni from the Law Class of 1972, the prize is transformed into a scholarship.

Purpose and Scope

The Scholarship shall be awarded each year to students entering the second year of the LL.B degree curriculum.

Selection criteria:

  • Academic merit, and
  • Financial need.
