In appreciation of the contribution of Professor Niklaus Lang to Dentistry, a few colleagues from the dental profession have made a donation to set up an award to support the initiatives of undergraduate dental students at the Faculty of Dentistry to contribute novel ideas for the benefit of the community. Through encouraging dental students to undertake learning activities of either a dental or non-dental nature during their course of study, the award aims to enhance their all-rounded development and exposure before embarking on their professional career.
The Award shall be awarded to one or more undergraduate students reading for the degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery who will participate in a self-proposed activity/service/product in a community to enhance the awardness of their professional commitment to society.
There are two parts of the Award, namely a monetary award of HK$10,000 to be awarded to the best essay submitted, and a project grant of HK$90,000 (maximum). The Project Grant will be made at the absolute discretion of the Selection Committee based on the merit and the implementability of the Selected Essay.
