Hong Kong Buddhist Association Postgraduate Scholarship in Buddhist Studies

On the Donor

The Hong Kong Buddhist Association (HKBA) set up a postgraduate scholarship in 2002 to award students of the Master of Buddhist Studies (MBuddhStud) degree programme. Starting from 2019-20, the award will be extended to students of the Master of Buddhist Counselling (MBC) degree programme.

Purpose and Scope

The Scholarship shall be awarded with priority given to students pursuing the MBuddhStud or the MBC programme who are teachers teaching Buddhism in schools run by HKBA or administrators in the secretariat and subsidiary organisations of HKBA.

Selection criteria:

• Academic merit
• Financial need
• Personal qualities

Those awardees who are teachers mentioned in above are required to serve in schools of HKBA for at least two years after completing the corresponding programme. Awardees who are administrators mentioned in above are required to serve in the secretariat or subsidiary organizations under HKBA for at least three years after completion of the corresponding programme. Those who failed to fulfil the said requirements would need to return full amount of the scholarship award.
