On the Donor

The D. H. Chen Foundation Scholarship Program was launched in 2016 by The D. H. Chen Foundation.  With the vision to nurture compassionate and insightful leaders who drive positive social changes, the Scholarship Program offers comprehensive support to enhance Scholars’ professional knowledge, personal insights and social aspirations.

A maximum of 20 scholarships will be granted annually to local Year 1 undergraduate students who are enrolled in full-time UGC-funded programmes at CityU, CUHK, HKU, HKUST and PolyU.

Purpose and Scope

The Program usually opens for applications in Semester Two each year. 

Apart from the provision of comprehensive financial support, the Program offers a wide range of distinctive components enabling its Scholars to explore and realise different academic, personal and social goals.  These features include social service exposure, mentorship, Scholars' network and other learning opportunities which foster the Scholars’ professional and philanthropic aspirations.

Selection criteria:

  • attained a Year GPA of at least 3.50 or equivalent in Year 1 ; and
  • demonstrate leadership abilities and commitment to make positive social change.

(Note: Awardees of The D. H. Chen Foundation Scholarship are NOT allowed to hold other scholarships/bursaries (excluding prizes and some enrichment support schemes) concurrently, from the date of accepting The D. H. Chen Foundation Scholarship.)

Value of Award Covers tuition fee (capped at HK$42,100), possible living allowance (HK$38,000) and overseas learning allowance (Max. HK$80,000)
Renewal Conditions Subject to Yearly GPA of at least 3.50 or equivalent in the preceding academic year (Note: Living allowance, if awarded, may be renewed subject to continued financial or special educational needs)
