On the Donor

In 2015, Dr Li Dak Sum generously pledged three donations to The University of Hong Kong (HKU), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) for the establishment of a scholarship scheme for undergraduate students.

Dr Li is the Founding Chairman of the Ning Po Residents Association (Hong Kong), which established Ning Po College and Ning Po No. 2 College in Hong Kong. Dr Li chairs the Incorporated Management Committee of the two schools. He has always been dedicated to supporting education in Hong Kong and on the Chinese Mainland, and he believes nurturing young talents can help advance the country.

Purpose and Scope

This scholarship scheme aims to encourage and support deserving students from Ning Po College and Ning Po No. 2 College to strive for excellence and pursue admission to HKU, CUHK and HKUST via the JUPAS Admission Scheme or after studying a sub-degree program.

Eligibility:

  • Local undergraduate students who graduated from Ning Po College or Ning Po No. 2 College in 2016 or later, and who are outstanding in both academic performance and personal conduct with genuine financial need;
  • For students who are admitted to HKU undergraduate programs via the JUPAS Admissions Scheme, they are required to obtain 5* in any one DSE subject or a minimum score of 20 for the best five DSE subjects (including the four core subjects: Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics and Liberal Studies);
  • For students who are admitted to HKU undergraduate programs after studying a sub-degree program, performance in the sub-degree program will be taken into consideration.

In applying for the Scholarship, candidates are required to provide a recommendation letter issued by the School Prinicpal of their respective secondary school based on academic merit and character, as well as financial need.

Eligible students entering HKU in 2023-24 can contact the HKU Academic Advising and Scholarships Office (email: awards@hku.hk) in September 2023 for the 2023-24 scholarship application form.
