In 2016, Mrs Pinky Lui, a Social Sciences alumna, and her family made donations to set up a scholarship in support of needy students who are first in their families to attend universities, to take part in experiential learning activities during their studies at HKU to enrich their university education. It is their wish to inculcate the spirit of giving among their family members and friends.
The Scholarship shall be awarded to local undergraduate students from Year 2 or above from any faculty, and who have financial need and are successful applicants of the HKU's First-in-the-Family Education Fund.
There shall be one award each year to support the scholarship recipient partaking in overseas learning activities, such as study tours, exchange programmes, cultural immersion, language courses, internships, service learning and volunteering.
