In 2015, Mr S Y Au pledged a sum to award residential scholarships and enrichment awards to students of the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine with the aims to encourage their aspirations in the pursuit of medical research and exposure in medical humanities.
Mr Au would like to dedicate this donation to his close friend, Dr Yip Ka Bing and his family. The fund shall be named after Dr Yip, his father Mr Yip Cheung and his brother-in-law Professor Lee Sum Ping (HKU's former Dean of Faculty of Medicine 2008-2013).
The Residential Scholarship shall be to first-year research postgraduate students of the Medical Faculty who have been offered accomondation at any of the university residential halls or colleges.
Selection criteria:
The recipients shall be attached to the Medical Ethics and Humanities Unit of the Medical Faculty and be required to provide teaching or research support to the medical ethics and/or medical humanities teaching programme(s).
