FBE Student Contribution and Innovation Award

To align with the Faculty Learning Goal for undergraduate (UG) programmes "Inculcating professionalism and leadership" an award shall be established to recognise leadership achievements of UG students in the Faculty of Business and Economics (the Faculty); and to promote experiential learning through students' participation in extra-curricular activities, involvement in community service and student leadership. The Award shall be conferred commencing from the academic year 2016-17.
 
Up to five awards of HK$10,000 each together with a certificate shall be made each academic year.

To align with the Faculty Learning Goals for undergraduate (UG) programmes – “Inculcating professionalism” and “Cultivating leadership”, the FBE Student Leadership Award was established in 2016 to recognise leadership achievements of UG students in the Faculty of Business and Economics; and to promote experiential learning through students’ participation in extra-curricular activities, involvement in community service and student leadership. In 2022, the Award was renamed as “FBE Student Contribution and Innovation Award” to further emphasise and recognise students’ contribution and innovation to the Faculty, University and community through their leadership and/or entrepreneurship.  

Purpose and Scope

The Award shall be made to full-time Year 2 or above undergraduate students in the Faculty. Selection shall be made on the basis of students'™ leadership achievements since their admission to The University of Hong Kong.
 
The selection criteria include the followings:
- Academic merit (cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above at the time of application); 
- Leadership role/duties, i.e. mode and level of participation;
- Scope and nature of the programme/event/association concerned;
- Impact of the leadership role; and
- Interview performance.

Up to five awards shall be made annually to full-time Year 2 or above undergraduate students in the Faculty, on the basis of the following criteria: 

  • Academic merit (cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above at the time of application);
  • Leadership/entrepreneurship role and its duties, i.e. mode and level of participation;
  • Scope and nature of the programme/event/association/project concerned;
  • Impact of the leadership/entrepreneurship role, particularly the extent of its contribution and innovation to the Faculty, University and community; and
  • Interview performance.
