Oswald Cheung Memorial Fund PCLL Scholarship, Sir

On the Donor

In 2016, Sir Oswald Cheung Memorial Fund Limited agreed to establish an annual scholarship for PCLL students at the University of Hong Kong in memory of Sir Oswald Cheung [LLD 1979]. The donation shall be made annually subject to the donor giving to The University of Hong Kong a 3-year notice in advance of termination of such donation. The Scholarship will be awarded with effect from the academic year 2016-17.

Purpose and Scope

One Scholarship shall be awarded each year to the best PCLL student who intends to practise at the Hong Kong Bar on the basis of academic merit at the time of admission to the PCLL.
 
The recipient of the Scholarship shall be required to sign a declaration of the intention to practise at the Hong Kong Bar. The intention to practice at the Hong Kong Bar is not limited to an intention to practice immediately after completion of the PCLL. There shall be no requirement for any refund of the benefit received in the event of any subsequent change of intention on the part of the Scholarship awardee.

One Scholarship shall be awarded each year to the best PCLL student who intends to practise at the Hong Kong Bar on the basis of academic merit at the time of admission to the PCLL.

The Scholarship shall cover (1) payment of the tuition fee of the PCLL programme (up to the amount for a full-time, government-funded place for local student) and (2) a cash award of HK$20,000 each.
