In 2016, the Tam Yik Fong Charitable Foundation pledged a donation to the University to set up a award in honour of the late Ms Tam Wun Tsun, younger sister of Dr Robert Tam Yik Fong (BA 1930). Both Ms Tam and Dr Tam shared a firm belief in education and made several generous gifts to the University in support of the Library, which, according to Dr Tam, held a special place in his heart. In recognition of their generosity, the University's Tam Villas and Pine Court were named after their family.
The Award shall be made to undergraduate students who plan to take part in Chinese Mainland or international (ML/INT) learning activities and shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit (normally with a Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above) and demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the proposed ML/INT learning experience.
