In June 2013, the family of the late Ms Lillian Poon, a Social Sciences alumna, donated a sum to the University, to set up a scholarship in memory of Ms Poon. During her years at HKU in the 70s, Ms Poon took Psychology and Economics as her majors of study.
A maximum of two awards shall be made for each year by the Department of Psychology. Similarly, a maximum of two awards shall be made for each year by the Faculty of Business and Economics.
The Scholarship shall be awarded annually to full-time undergraduate students reading the following curricula:
Faculty of Social Science
BSocSc students with a first major in Psychology; or
Faculty of Business and Economics
Non-first and non-final year students reading:
The Scholarships shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit (with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 out of 4.30). Where candidates are of equal merit, preference shall be given to the candidate in greater financial need.
