HKUMAA Enrichment Scholarship for Medical Students

On the Donor

In 2016, The University of Hong Kong Medical Alumni Association (hereafter as “HKUMAA”) (香港
大學醫學院校友會) donated a sum of HK$200,000 to establish a scholarship scheme to support 
teaching and learning initiatives of medical students at the LKS Faculty of Medicine (hereafter as 
“Medical Faculty”). The Scholarship aims to enhance medical students’ all-rounded development 
and exposure to undertake teaching and learning activities in either medical or non-medical fields 
during their course of study before progressing to their professional medical career.

The Scholarship aims to enhance medical students’ all-rounded development and exposure to undertake teaching and learning activities in either medical or non-medical fields during their course of study before progressing to their professional medical career. 

Purpose and Scope

One scholarship, of the value of HK$10,000, shall be awarded annually to a Bachelor of 
Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (“MBBS”) student who is required to undertake Elective/ 
Enrichment Year Programme conducted outside Hong Kong, and is duly approved by the 
Medical Faculty. Activities may include academic exchange, elective attachment, voluntary 
and community services, or any other experiential teaching and learning activities. 

One scholarship, of the value of HK$10,000, shall be awarded annually to a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (“MBBS”) student who undertakes MBBS Elective/ Enrichment Year Programme or other learning activities conducted outside Hong Kong duly approved by the Medical Faculty. Activities may include but not limited to academic exchange, elective attachment, voluntary and community services, overseas conference or any other experiential teaching and learning activities. 

The Scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need. 

Upon completion of the activity, the awardee is required to submit a report on his/her experience and reflections on the activity to HKUMAA for information, and deliver a presentation about his/her reflections in 10-15 minutes at the Annual General Meeting of HKUMAA in the following year.
