Swire Visiting Studentship for Ministry of Commerce, P. R. China at The University of Hong Kong

In 2015, the Swire Group in Hong Kong established a visiting studentship in The University of Hong Kong (HKU) to provide further educational opportunities for senior research officials in the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) of the PRC Government.

 

Purpose and Scope

Up to two studentships shall be awarded annually to civil servants from the MOFCOM for their studies of undergraduate and/or taught postgraduate courses, as non-local visiting students, at HKU. An awardee is generally expected to take the normal load of courses of a full-time student.

candidates are required to: (i) satisfy the admission requirements (including English proficiency and education standards), as non-local visiting students, of the selected undergraduate and/or taught postgraduate courses; and (ii) obtain admission offers as non-local visiting students to read the selected courses at HKU.

The Studentship shall be tenable for one whole semester, covering the student’s composition fees, visa application fee, accommodation cost at St. John's College (SJC), monthly stipends and economy class air passages to and from Hong Kong at the beginning and end of the period of tenure.

The Studentship shall not be held concurrently with other scholarships, teaching and research awards. Awardees shall not be allowed to engage in any paid jobs, excluding his/her appointment at MOFCOM, inside and outside HKU during the term of Studentship.

Awardees are required to reside in SJC for the duration of the Studentship and expected to return to the Chinese Mainland on completion of his/her studies at HKU.
