In 2016, Mr Warren C H Chan, Q.C.,S.C., a law alumnus, generously donated a sum for the establishment of an enrichment scholarship with the aim to support medical students at the LKS Faculty of Medicine in the pursuit of their chosen field or specific areas of interest of teaching and learning activities in either the medical or non-medical fields during the Enrichment Year under the 6-year MBBS curriculum. In particular, preference will be given to support students who pursue interests related to medical humanities, ethics or medical law.
Up to five scholarships shall be awarded annually to students reading for the degree of MBBS who are required to undertake Enrichment Year Programme under the 6-year curriculum, and that the Programme is duly approved by the Medical Faulty. Activities may include academic exchange, elective attachment, voluntary and community services, and/or any other experiential teaching and learning activities.
The amount of the Enrichment Scholarship to be awarded to individual students shall be determined by the Selection Committee on the basis of the students' academic merit, activity budget and financial need.
The Enrichment Scholarship cannot held concurrently with other merit-based enrichment scholarships administered by the University for the same activity. The Scholarship may be held concurrently with non-merit-based finanical aids.
