HKU-Dunhuang Academy Postgraduate Scholarship in Buddhist Studies

On the Donor

In 2018, an initial donation of was pledged to establish a Scholarship for candidates from the Dunhuang Academy (DHA) to pursue the Master of Buddhist Studies (MBuddhStud) degree programme at The University of Hong Kong.

Purpose and Scope

The Scholarship shall be awarded annually to deserving candidates from DHA who are admitted to the MBuddhStud programme.  Priority shall be given to those pursuing the 1-year full-time degree programme, on the basis of (i) academic merit, (ii) financial need and (iii) personal qualities.

The Scholarship shall be used by the CBS to directly settle the awardees’ tuition fee for the normative period of study.  The balance of the scholarship award, after payment of tuition fees, shall be paid to the awardees in equal quarterly instalments over the normative period of study.

Awardees are required to serve in the DHA for at least six years after completion of the MBuddhStud programme.
