In 1996, formers friends, relatives and students of the late Dr. John D. Young raised a fund in his memory for the establishment of a scholarship. The scholarship shall be awarded to a research postgraduate student whose field of study is in Hong Kong history.
The scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit as demonstrated in the research work. The recipient of the scholarship is required to acknowledge the receipt of the award if it is used to support any of the recipient's future publications.
