On the Donor
In June 2019, Dr Clarence Leung and his family generously donated a sum of HK$4,200,000 for the
establishment of a scholarship fund in honour of the late Mr Leung Tong and Mrs Leung Au Sue Har in the
LKS Faculty of Medicine (“Medical Faculty”). On top of the donation of HK$4,200,000, a matching grant
from the Government Matching Grant Scheme is expected to be received. The donation and matching grant
will be used to support the Residential Scholarship component under the President’s Scholarship Scheme for
outstanding students admitted to the MBBS programme at the LKS Faculty of Medicine with
HKDSE/international Baccalaureate Diploma/GCE A-Level/ International A-Level qualifications. To make
good use of the donation, the remaining annual disbursement budget will be deployed for an Enrichment
Scholarship in support of MBBS students.

Purpose and Scope
The Scholarship aims to provide outstanding undergraduate students of the Medical Faculty who are
offered accommodation places at HKU with a residential college/hall fee waiver at the maximum of
HK$25,000 for a 12-month period of stay. For duration of stay below 12 months, the amount of the
residential college/hall fee waiver shall be pro-rated accordingly.
3. The Scholarship shall be awarded each year to MBBS students in any year of study on the basis of
academic merits, including but not limited to the results from public examinations for admission to the
University.
4. The exact number and value of scholarships to be awarded each year shall be determined by the Medical
Faculty based on the recommendation of the Associate Dean (Teaching & Learning). The value of each
scholarship shall depend on the academic merit of the candidates and the amount of residential
college/hall fee. In any event, the minimum value of each scholarship shall be HK$10,000 per year.
The maximum amount of the Scholarship that can be awarded to a student is HK$150,000 for the whole
MBBS Programme.
