In June 2019, Dr Clarence Leung and his family generously donated a sum for the establishment of a scholarship fund in honour of the late Mr Leung Tong and Mrs Leung Au Sue Har in the LKS Faculty of Medicine. Part of the donation fund will be deployed for an Enrichment Scholarship in support of MBBS students.
The Scholarship aims to enable students to design their own learning experiences during their enrichment year in the MBBS curriculum.
The Scholarship shall be awarded each year, subject to funding availability, to third year MBBS students of the Faculty on the basis of financial need, academic merit and the budget of the enrichment year activities. Preference shall be given to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, minority groups or those who have had a harder early life than others.
The value of each scholarship shall range from HK$20,000 to HK$50,000, depending on the geographical location of the experiential learning activities.
The Scholarship is intended to cover the cost of transportation (cheapest economy airfare and local ground transport), living expenses, service/administrative fees for attachment at NGO/service partners, etc.
The Scholarship cannot be held concurrently with other merit-based enrichment scholarships administrated by the University for the same activity. The Scholarship may be held concurrently with non-merit-based financial aids.
