S.K. Yee Medical Foundation David Todd Memorial Enrichment Scholarship

On the Donor

 In July 2019, the S.K. Yee Medical Foundation made a donation of HK$30 million 
for the establishment of enrichment scholarship fund in the LKS Faculty of Medicine 
(“Medical Faculty”). The establishment of the Enrichment Scholarship aims to 
encourage students of the Medical Faculty to undertake learning activities in either the 
medical or non-medical fields during their course of undergraduate studies, with the 
ultimate goal to enhance students’ all-rounded development and exposure before 
embarking on their professional medical and healthcare careers.

Purpose and Scope

The Scholarship aims to provide eligible full-time undergraduate students of the 
Medical Faculty with financial support to accomplish enrichment projects or 
activities leading to a better sense of social responsibility and humility, and 
improved qualities of and considerations for altruism and social equity. 
 
 
 
3. The Scholarship shall be awarded to full-time undergraduate students of the 
Medical Faculty who are undertaking approved enrichment programmes and/or 
other types of experiential learning projects or activities during their course of study. 
The projects or activities may include voluntary and community services, 
humanitarian relief missions, NGO attachments, health promotion, poverty 
alleviation programmes, and/or other types of self-initiated activities as approved 
by the Faculty. 
 
 
 
4. The value of the Scholarship shall be in three tiers. The exact number of awards 
and value of scholarships to be awarded each year shall be determined by the 
Selection Committee on the basis of students’ academic merit, financial need 
and/or activity budget. Priority shall be given to students with financial need.

The Scholarship is intended to cover, including but not limited to, cost of transportation (cheapest economy airfare and local ground transport), living expenses, service/administrative fees for attachment at NGO/service partners, tuition fees for exchange/internship/field trips/training, bench fees for research attachment, registration fees at conferences, consumables for health advocacy projects/health exhibition, etc. There will be difference between overseas versus local projects on the basis of travel. 

The Scholarship cannot be held concurrently with other merit-based enrichment awards administrated by the University for the same activity. The Scholarship may be held concurrently with non-merit-based financial aids.

Upon completion of the Enrichment Year Programme or the funded project/activity, awardees are required to submit a report on their experience and reflections on the programmes concerned.
