On the Donor

In September 2019, Ms Sally Leung, a Social Sciences alumna, donated to establish a scholarship in honour of her parents, the late Mr Leung Che Kwong and Ms Lai Shim. The Scholarship shall support students in the fields of Educational Psychology and Civil Engineering. Ms Leung and her brother, Albert Leung, a Civil Engineering alumnus, are indebted to their parents for the unfailing selfless support and guidance they received throughout their upbringing. The Scholarship pays deepest tribute to their parents and encourages the next generation of students to thrive in their selective disciplines so as to contribute to the society in the respective fields. The awarding of the Scholarship started in the academic year 2019-20. Following the passing of Ms Lai Shim in summer 2020, the scholarship was renamed as “Leung Che Kwong Lai Shim Memorial Scholarship”.

Purpose and Scope

Scholarship for Educational Psychology students

One award, of the value of HK$10,000, shall be made biennially to a full-time student of the MSocSc in Educational Psychology Programme with the best dissertation.

Scholarship for Civil Engineering students

One award, of the value of HK$10,000, shall be made annually to a Final Year full-time BEng student enrolled in the Department of Civil Engineering. The award shall bemade on the basis of academic merit as shown in the examination results of students’ third year of study.
