On the Donor

To commemorate the over 100 years of teacher education at the University of Hong Kong and to celebrate the 100th Birthday of his mother (Mrs Tse Wong Mee Kuen 謝黃美娟) in 2019, Mr Tse Sik-Yan (謝錫恩), an alumnus of the Faculty of Education, pledged a donation for the establishment of a scholarship for outstanding undergraduates majoring in English Language Education and Chinese Language Education.

Purpose and Scope

A total of two awards shall be made annually. Each awardee should achieve a Distinction in Professional Practicum and attain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 or above in the 4th year of study. One award shall be made to each of the following two categories:

• Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education in Language Education – English [BA&BEd(LangEd)-Eng]; and
• Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education in Language Education – Chinese [BA&BEd(LangEd)-Chi].

In the case with more than one eligible student in each category, the Scholarship shall be awarded to the candidate who is recommended by a selection panel based on students’ professional potential to be a good teacher and their participation in extra-curricular activities/voluntary service.
