HKU Undergraduate Entrance Scholarship for President’s Scholars

Since the 2016 admissions exercise, the University has bestowed the honour of

“President’s Scholar” as well as benefits including scholarships covering tuition

fees and overseas experiences and nomination to overseas learning opportunities

to students who have achieved the highest honour attainable in their respective

secondary school qualification.

The main purposes of the Scholarship are (i) to recognise the academic

achievement of students who have attained top-tier honours in their respective

secondary school qualifications upon admissions to the University; (ii) to enable

the University to attract high-calibre students for admissions, and (iii) to provide

financial award to students in supporting their overseas learning opportunities as

a way to enhance their undergraduate learning experience.

Purpose and Scope

The Scholarship shall be awarded to the most outstanding newly-admitted

undergraduate students each year.

For local students, a one-off award under the HKU Entrance Scholarship Schemes and a one-off enrichment scholarship for access to one overseas learning opportunity. The Entrance Scholarship shall be tenable for one year.

For non-local students, in line with the highest level of entrance scholarship available under HKU Entrance Scholarship schemes in the given admissions exercise and as applicable to the student being assessed. A one-off enrichment scholarship, shall be offered as part of the scholarship package for local and non-local students. The Entrance Scholarship shall be tenable for the normative period of study, according to a renewal value scale based on awardees’ academic performance and as approved by the Admissions Office.

The Enrichment Scholarship shall be awarded once at the time when students participate in a qualified overseas learning opportunity.
