HSBC Greater Bay Area (Hong Kong) Scholarship
On the Donor
HSBC is committed to equipping our communities with the skills and knowledge essential for success in the global community. With the aim of preparing Hong Kong's next generation for a future closely intertwined with the Greater Bay Area (GBA), the HSBC Greater Bay Area (Hong Kong) Scholarship was established in 2020-21. This Scholarship encourages Hong Kong students to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the GBA, fostering competitiveness, confidence, and employability as they embark on a successful and fulfilling career in the region.
Purpose and Scope
In 2024-25, HSBC will award up to 30 scholarship awards to the 13 participating universities. Each awardee will receive a scholarship amount of HK$80,000. In addition:
(a) Membership in a network of past and current recipients of HSBC scholarships;
(b) Opportunities to network with like-minded young professionals; and
(c) Mentorship as well as connections to related internship and learning opportunities.
Eligibility
Full-time undergraduate students, studying any discipline, who meet the following requirements:
(a) Hong Kong permanent residents with the right of abode in Hong Kong;
(b) Minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) score of 3.0 or top 15% of class/department, in the first semester of the current academic year; and
(c) Commitment to pursue employment, entrepreneurial, or advanced academic opportunities in the wider GBA.
Selection criteria
(a) Commitment to pursue employment, entrepreneurial endeavours, or advanced academic opportunities leveraging Hong Kong's position as the international gateway to opportunities in the wider GBA;
(b) Candidates with a focus on strategic pillars (e.g. digital, innovation and technology, and green business) will have an advantage;
(c) A future leader who demonstrates all-roundedness; and
(d) Commitment to be an active member of a community of HSBC Scholars.
Awardees' Obligations
Awardees are required to submit a report to reflect on their personal growth and learning journey towards their GBA aspiration and be an active member of a community of HSBC Scholars.

Interviews will be held some time in March - May 2025
