On the Donor

 In October 2020, Vincent Medical Holdings Limited kindly pledged an initial donation of 
HK$500,000 for the establishment of a new enrichment scholarship scheme in the LKS Faculty of 
Medicine.  The Scholarship aims to enable students to design their own learning experiences during 
their enrichment year in the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) curriculum in 
either medical or non-medical fields.

Purpose and Scope

The Scholarship shall be awarded each year to third year MBBS students of the Faculty on the 
basis of academic merit, financial need, and budget of the enrichment year activities. 
Preference shall be given to students who undertake respirology/ pulmonology-related learning 
and/or research activities during their MBBS Enrichment Year Programme.

The value of each scholarship shall normally be in the range of HK$20,000 to HK$50,000 for each awardee, depending on the geographical location of the experiential learning activities as  follows: 

  • Asian countries: HK$ 20,000-30,000
  • Countries other than Asia: HK$ 30,000-50,000
    (including UK, Europe, US, Australia, etc.)

The Scholarship is intended to cover, in full or partially, the cost of transportation (cheapest economy airfare and local ground transport), living expenses, service/administrative fees for attachment at NGO/service partners, bench fees for research attachment, registration fees at  conferences, laboratory consumables, etc. 

The Scholarship cannot be held concurrently with other merit-based enrichment scholarships administered by the University for the same activity. The Scholarship may be held concurrently with non-merit-based financial aids.
