In January 2021, a scholarship for Social Work students is to be established in memory of the late Mr Kevin Kwong Kit Tong. Mr Kwong started his career as a Social Worker in 1969, and was a pioneer in reaching out to at-risk youth. He was also an educator at various universities in Hong Kong. In 2003, Mr Kwong moved to Chicago and joined the Chinese American Service League (CASL) where he devotedly served in its youth programme for 15 years, helping local Asian youth as well as students from Hong Kong during their overseas internships. He served this role until his retirement.
“Kevin was truly a veteran social worker – his dedication, passion for his work, which influenced positively to everyone, his willingness to go the extra mile to help, which gained a lot of respect from students, colleagues, friends and anyone who he had met – and we hope his legacy will carry on.”
“To many youth and students who had benefitted from his help and teaching. Mr Kwong is to be regarded as a mentor who had changed their lives by broadening their vision and instilling in them a mindset to live an adventurous life.”
