In March 2021, Dr. Yip Ka Chee made a donation for the establishment of a new scholarship in the LKS Faculty of Medicine, in memory of his dear friend, Dr. Lo Wai Hoi. The late Dr. Lo was the former Medical Superintendent (equivalent to Hospital Chief Executive) of Castle Peak Hospital in 1972-74 and the Consultant Psychiatrist-in-Charge of the Government Mental Health Service in 1970s–80s. He was instrumental in the development of psychiatric service in Hong Kong. It is hoped that the Scholarship can support deserving and needy medical students to gain access to the university education, and receive professional trainings to become medical doctors.
Two scholarships shall be awarded annually to full-time MBBS students on the basis of academic merit. Financial need may also be taken into consideration.
